Breanna & Eric
Kings Canyon National Park Engagement“There’s this spot on the side of the road where we always stop to slow dance to this one song…”
Breanna described the special memory with a smile. I’d asked her where she hoped to capture photographs of her and Eric, her new fiancé, and she chose a few significant locations unique to their relationship.
To tell their story, we first traveled up to Kings Canyon National Park, documenting the goofy lightheartedness of their personalities as they had a snowball fight and snuggled in a blanket, laughing and tickling each other.
My Eric and I worked together in harmony — I focused on interacting with the couple and shooting, while he scouted the next location, helped me look out for details, and was in charge of the playlist for the shoot.
As we moved through our time together, it gradually transitioned into a more thoughtful, contemplative mood. I enjoy crafting the energy and feel of a session through specific, intentional prompts which help couples loosen up and focus on what they love about each other. These comfortable, honest moments create images that truly capture the emotions they feel.
a perfect moment
“We are still kids, but we’re so in love
Fighting against all odds
I know we’ll be all right this time
Darling, just hold my hand
Be my girl, I’ll be your man
I see my future in your eyes”

They watched the sunset in their favorite spot overlooking the valley, dancing in the sparkling snow to their song. Braving the cold, they held each other close and trusted each other’s embrace.
Finally, we all returned to the car, shivering, and made our way to one of our favorite stops on the way home — Bear Mountain Pizza. After enjoying a hot meal and great conversation, we finished out the night capturing photos at the local tea shop where they first met almost exactly a year ago.

Needless to say, it was a beautiful, memorable day, and as I have the special honor of being a bridesmaid in their wedding, I am so excited to stand by their side as they vow their lives to each other next year.
